Why is My Xiaomi Poco F4 or F4 GT Not Connecting to the PC?
Well, each affected user may face this issue for a different reason. Mostly issues with the faulty USB data cable, incompatible USB data cable, issues with the USB connectivity ports on the computer, incorrect or missing USB drivers on the PC, incorrect USB connection type on the handset, etc are quite common reasons. Now, without wasting any more time, let’s jump into the guide below.
How to Fix If Xiaomi Poco F4 or F4 GT Not Connecting to PC?
As we’ve already mentioned the expected reasons, just check out the workarounds below. Do not skip any method until the problem gets fixed.
1. Check for Damaged or Faulty USB Cable
It’s highly recommended to check whether your USB data cable is damaged or faulty. Sometimes issues with the USB cable may trouble you a lot more than anything else. Whereas you should always use the stock/official USB cable for charging and data transfer. If you’re using a third-party or local data cable then it may not be supported with your device for the data transfer. Ensure to cross-check the same.
2. Physically Damaged or Wobbly USB Port
It can also be possible that somehow your USB port becomes quite wobbly due to years of usage or maybe becomes physically damaged which is unexpected. But it happens a lot and you’re no exception. If there are multiple USB ports available on the PC or using any USB Hub then try connecting the USB cable to another port for sure.
3. Install Xiaomi USB Drivers on PC
USB Driver is considered to be a program that creates a communication bridge between the computer and mobile devices once attached via the USB data cable for a stronger data connection whatsoever. Once the required USB driver is installed on the PC, the system will be able to detect the connected device, and sync or transfer data easily. If you haven’t installed the Xiaomi USB Driver before or the driver becomes corrupted then install it from here.
4. Check the MTP USB Device
It’s recommended to check the MTP USB Device connection on the PC by following the steps below. To do so:
- Open the Device Manager by pressing the Win+X keys and selecting it.
- Now, check for the MTP device or phone name in the list.
- Double-click to expand the driver list > Click on ‘Refresh Driver’.
- Select ‘MTP USB device’ > Click on ‘Next’.
- Wait until the drivers are installed and reboot the PC to apply changes.
5. Select Default USB Configuration
If in case, the Poco F4 or F4 GT device isn’t displayed in the Device Manager then you can enable developer mode on the handset by following the steps below:
- Open the Settings menu on the device.
- Tap on About Phone > Tap on Build Number quickly for 7 times to enable Developer options.
- Now, go back to the Settings menu again and tap on Developer options.
- Tap on ‘Default USB Configuration’ > Select ‘File Transfer’. [Important]
- Once done, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable again to check if the device is shown up on Device Manager or not.
- It should be shown up now which means your device is detected by the PC.
6. Enable USB Debugging
Sometimes users only connect their device to the PC for flashing files or running ADB commands via the PC. In that case, only selecting the default USB configuration won’t be enough on the handset sometimes. USB Debugging offers communication with the PC and device for running the Android SDK commands to flash files or even performing other advanced tasks by the developers and advanced users. You can follow the steps below to enable it.
- Open the Settings menu on the device.
- Tap on About Phone > Tap on Build Number quickly for 7 times to enable Developer options.
- Now, go back to the Settings menu again and tap on Developer options.
- Tap on the USB Debugging toggle to Enable it. [If prompted, confirm it]
- Once it’s turned on, your device will get detected on the PC in ADB/Fastboot mode for running Android SDK commands. You should know that you’ll also require the ADB & Fastboot Platform Tools on your computer for the same.
7. Perform Reset Settings on Device
If none of the methods did help you then make sure to perform reset settings on your device to check if the problem has been fixed or not. Resetting the device settings to the factory default might come in handy. You can follow the steps below to do so:
- Open the Settings menu on the device.
