You’re the happy owner of a Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone, but you’re also facing a microphone not working issue. Don’t worry because, in the majority of the cases, the glitch appears due to a third-party app or a software-related error. If that’s also the case for you, then you should be able to fix microphone issue on Galaxy S10, S10E, or S10 Plus by yourself. Just follow the methods I will present to you in this post, and troubleshoot your problem.
While a microphone issue might also appear due to a hardware-related problem, especially if you dropped your phone or spilled some liquid over the microphone area, the Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones don’t ship with microphone glitches. If you don’t remember damaging your device, then the bug popped up most likely because of a software error.

Force close Samsung’s Bixby assistant
On Galaxy S10, similarly to the previous Galaxy S models, S9 and S9 Plus, the microphone issue might be caused by the Bixby assistant. Accordingly, you should force close the service and see if the problem persists.

Check apps permissions
This method is helpful to fix microphone issue on Galaxy S10, S10E, or S10 Plus only if the microphone works flawlessly during calls but refuses to function in a specific application on your device.
That might be due to incorrectly set apps permissions. Here’s how to access that menu and see if that specific app has access to the microphone:
- Go to Settings -> Apps and locate that particular app in the Installed Apps menu
- Once you find it, tap on that application
- Then, go to Permissions
- Check if the app has access to the microphone – if not, just enable that permission
Now, you can clear the app’s cache and data, only to be sure that you’ll eliminate any corrupt data.
Update the firmware
Sometimes, a system bug causes the microphone issue on Galaxy S10, S10E, or S10 Plus. In case that a glitch passed into the final version of the firmware, Samsung is undoubtedly aware of it and, most likely, there is already a firmware update available to download.
Check for firmware updates by going to Settings -> Software Update.
Factory reset Galaxy S10, S10E, or S10 Plus
If the before-mentioned methods did not help you fix microphone issue on Galaxy S10, S10E, or S10 Plus, then a factory reset would do that trick. Here’s how to perform a hard reset on Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphones:
