Sending and receiving texts is the basic functionality of a smartphone. And if you are getting difficulties in this too then this will be a very shame for the flagship brands like in this case Poco. Follow this troubleshooting guide to fix if you Can’t Send Texts or SMS Not Working on Poco X2.
With the rise of the omnipotent instant messengers and VoIP services, the SMS and MMS fell behind. However, SMS is still quite reliable when it comes to simple text messaging. Even though the messaging features can work very well even without the network connection, but sometimes it happens that the messaging feature doesn’t work properly.
However, if you can receive texts just fine, but your texts always fail to send, it is 9 times out of 10 a problem with your SMSC number. It is not a hardware or software issue, factory resetting your phone will accomplish nothing. This is because the SMSC number is actually written to your SIM card, not on your device.
Possible Reasons Behind the Problem
Troubleshooting any network problem is easy but involves doing a number of things. This is because there can be a number of factors that can cause a network issue. Below are the possible reasons why you have a texting problem:
- Messaging app is buggy or needs an update
- Network error or maybe no network issue in your area
- Outage
- Incorrect phone settings
- Bad third-party app
- Unknown software bug
Fix, Poco X2 won’t send Texts or SMS not working problem
Check the Error
Error codes or messages are usually key to solving problems. If your messaging app displays an error every time it fails to send texts, be sure to take note of it. Then, do a Google search about the exact message or code and see if there’s any available online solution.
Force Quit Messages app
This is usually recommended to fix minor app bugs. There are two ways to do this.
Method 1: Close an app using Recent Apps key
- On your screen, tap the Recent Apps soft key (the one with three vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
- Once the Recent Apps screen is shown, swipe left or right to look for the app. It should be here if you managed to run it previously.
- Then, swipe up on the app to close it. This should force close it. If it’s not there, simply tap the Close All app to also restart all apps.
Method 2: Close an app using App Info menu
- Open ‘Settings’ from either the Quick Nav menu or the launcher.
- Scroll Down and Tap ‘Apps’.
- Now, tap on ‘Manage Apps’
- Tap the More settings icon (three-dot icon, upper right).
- Tap ‘Show All Apps’.
- Find and tap the app.
- Tap Force Stop.
Simple Reboot or Forced Reboot
Well, I think you already know how to restart your phone. So just restart the device and see whether it solves the issue or not. Restarting a device is always an ultimate solution for any issue. Not only Poco but this applies to every electronic device. I used to tell my mom to restart her device if she faces any issue with her smartphone.
Well if you still need to know how to restart then, here is it: Press your phone’s power button. On the screen, tap Restart.
The other way of the reboot is as follows:
- Press and hold the volume down button first and don’t let go.
- Press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
- Keep both keys held down for 15 seconds or more.
If this doesn’t work then head to the next method. Rebooting your device regularly at least once every week can be beneficial.
Verify Signal Strength
In a lot of network issues, poor or weak signals are to blame. If your Poco X2 is showing No Service all the time recently, be sure to check how the signal bars are showing on your device. Anything lower than 3 bars is not good and can indicate a network issue.
If you are inside a building, try to go out and see if No Service goes away. If you are traveling by car, you may be transiting a dead spot. What you want to do is to move a known well-covered area. If No service remains, there may be an issue with your Poco X2. Continue troubleshooting it by following the steps below.
Check if Voice Calling Works
Some carriers may have 4G LTE issues which can also affect other network services. Try checking if texting or voice calling is intermittent or having random issues. If they do have a problem even if there are excellent signal bars, there may be an issue with your network. You must contact your network operator for help.
Delete old conversations
Sending and receiving texts may become problematic if the Message inbox is full. Try to delete some old conversations that have lots of attachments. They tend to eat up a huge portion of your messaging app’s inbox.
Remove and Reinsert SIM card
I don’t think you need another tutorial to reinstall a sim card in your device. Just remove the sim tray from the device and restart the device and then reinsert it to the device.
- Activate the flight mode.
- Push Sim eject tool into the circular opening on the SIM card tray to remove it.
- Power off the device.
- Remove the Sim card from the Sim tray then place it back in.
- Push the tray back into the slot.
- Boot the device.
Once you’ve removed the SIM card from the device, wait for a few moments before re-inserting it. This has the effect of refreshing the system without the old cellular settings. Once the SIM card is re-inserted and the phone restarted, your network’s configuration should be added automatically.

If you have another phone that can work with your network, you can also try to insert the SIM card to it. This will help you check if there’s an issue with the SIM card itself. If the problem returns when you use the SIM card in the second device, you either have an issue with the SIM or with the network. Try getting a new SIM card to see if it’s the SIM or the network.
Reset Network Settings
- Open ‘Settings’ from either the Quick Nav menu or the launcher.
- After opening Settings, look for ‘Connection & Sharing’ and open it.
- After opening Connection & Sharing, scroll down and tap ‘Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth’.
- Now, tap ‘Reset Settings’ that is located at the center bottom of the screen.
- Now, it will ask for your lock screen password, confirm it.
- Now, a popup window will appear asking you the final time.
- Finally, tap on the Ok button.
- Tap on it and you’re good to go.
Clear App Cache
If the above methods did not help, follow it up by clearing the apps’ cache. Here’s how it’s done:
- Open ‘Settings’ from either the Quick Nav menu or the launcher.
- Scroll Down and Tap ‘Apps’.
- Now, tap on ‘Manage Apps’
- If you’re looking for a system or default app, tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
- Tap ‘Show All Apps’.
