After receiving a firmware update recently, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S users are facing a new bug that is related to the sensor. Last month, the Chinese OEM Xiaomi has pushed a new firmware update to this model that has fixed the Wi-Fi-related issue. It also brought the May 2020 Android Security Patch level for improved privacy and security features. However, the Note 9S users are now reporting that the update contains bug and the Redmi Note 9S proximity sensor bug becomes a new issue. Most importantly, one ridiculous thing happening to the affected users that the system is asking them not to cover the earphone area where the proximity sensor is placed. This means even if you don’t cover the earphone area, this warning notice appears all the time in normal device browsing.
Though Xiaomi support hasn’t announced any temporary or permanent fix yet. Luckily, some of the affected users have got a workaround to fix this issue temporarily. You will just need to turn off the Pocket Mode in the device Settings menu. It seems that turning off the pocket mode works really well and fixes the issue.
