With a storyline that rivals no other on TV, ABC had a hit on their hands with How To Get Away With Murder from the start. It follows the life of one lawyer and her students who share a special but weird relationship built on lies, the law, history, and murder.
With a diverse and large cast, who will make your list as the top favorites? Each character brings their own special element to the show but each one is flawed as well. Here are the top 10 fan-favorite characters from How To Get Away With Murder.
Laurel Castillo
What’s going on with Laurel? From the start of How To Get Away With Murder, there was always something off another her character. Laurel came from good money but chose to fight against it. Her personal life was just as messy and it became even worse once she lost Wes. Now a mother, Laurel is out to protect but is she going too far?
She knows the law just as good as the others but she also understands the dealings of the underworld which makes her equally dangerous. What is Laurel’s end game as she has put distance between herself, her friends and family?
Connor Walsh
Connor has a great law mind but what stands in his way are his morals. In the beginning, he was gun-ho. It was more of a competitive thing between him and the rest of his classmates but lately, Connor has been fighting for some truth. Are his hands dirty? Yes, the same as everyone else’s.
Now married, it appears that Connor is trying to grow up. However, he’s still seeking answers from Annalise that he may never receive. While the group is fighting for their lives, Connor is still wondering after six seasons why Annalise chose him.
Oliver Hampton
The computer geek of the crew. Oliver is the guy you run to when dirt needs to be dug up. He’s a whizz and in the beginning, he wanted no parts of Annalise and whatever she and her students were a part of. However, his love for Connor found him doing the same things he said he would never do. While not a student of her class, Oliver is now an official member of the Keating 5.
His snooping has often led Oliver to have panic attacks as he was the one with the sound voice often trying to talk Connor and the rest out of doing something stupid. Now, Oliver is the one leading the charge with his sometimes acts of randomness.
Asher Millstone
The jokester of the crew but he has to play that role to cover up some insecurities he’s been dealing with his whole life. Hailing from old money, Asher entered Law School with the world at his feet. Acting a bit on the privileged side, Asher was not one of the most liked characters on How To Get Away With Murder.
His relationships were a mess. It was hard keeping friends and then came the scandal of rape, his father’s suicide, and the death of Sam. It’s been hard for Asher to keep it all tougher but he has done so with a childish-like bravado.
Bonnie Winterbottom
If you google the word loyalty, a picture of Bonnie would appear in the search. She has stood by Annalise’s side even when Annalise has backstabbed her. Bonnie’s past has been just as complicated as any on the show but she has always found a way to escape death and punishment. She will do whatever is asked of her even if that means putting her life or career on the line.
Bonnie is smart and resourceful but she often has a hard time seeing the finish line as her loyalty has blinded her a few times. She’s searching for love and at this point, she still confused on whether that will be Annalise or Frank.
Nate Lahey
The former cop who Annalise has in her back pocket. Nate and Annalise were also former lovers but have parted ways in that area and still share a close bond. Nate is a solid character but that’s not to say that he can’t or won’t cross the lines if need be. Tormented by the acts his father committed, Nate attacked everything with seriousness. He’s been in the groups’ corner throughout, even when Annalise framed him for murder.
Nate is now on a mission to figure out what happened to his father while in prison. Throughout the show, he’s been given chances to turn on Annalise and her group and he has been honest and upfront each time.
Wes Gibbins
In the early stages of How To Get Away With Murder, it appeared that while the group was the focus, the storyline was about Wes. It was just something about his character that screamed, watch him. Wes was determined and while he didn’t come from money, it was his drive that left a lasting impression on viewers.
It was his past that made his storylines one of the best on the show and despite his exit, we’re still dealing with that act. No Wes, no cover-up of Sam’s murder. No Wes, no missing Laurel, and little Christopher. Wes was a wild force on the show and the most shocking death.
Frank Delfino
Every team must have that go-to person while willing to put it all on the line when called upon. For Annalise and the team, Frank is that guy. His loyalty extends all the way from Sam and has extended to his ex-wife. Frank is muscle but still has a heart, especially when it comes to the women in his life. As with everyone on the show, he has a checked past but we’ve seen that close nit family vibe in regards to his personal life.
As strong as he is, Frank does have a weak spot. Laurel has always been that one person who was able to break down his walls and make Frank appear human.
Michaela Pratt
If there was one person out the team who would take a career to the next level, its Michaela. While each member brings their own intensity, Michaela is more like Annalise than she cares to admit. She’s headstrong and is trying her best to escape her past which hovers over her lie a blanket.
She can come off as snobbish but all she sees is the finish line. But be careful, Michaela will stab you in the back to get what she wants. In her mind, in certain moments, it’s every man for themselves.
Annalise Keating
The mastermind behind it all. No one moves without the blessing of Annalise Keating. This is a woman who has seen and been through it all and still rose above the ashes. While not the most liked, Annalise has to deal with not only the cops trying to take her down but her students as well at times.
A recovering alcoholic, Annalise has demons that she must defeat before it’s too late. She’s been trying to get her life right but too many bad decisions in the past and too many lies told could end up being her downfall.
